Top 3 Experiential Marketing Myths (And Why They Aren’t True)

There are plenty of myths and misconceptions surrounding experiential marketing. While it’s growing steadily in popularity, it’s still a relatively new concept to a lot of people, and many don’t entirely understand what it is or how it works.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to debunk a few of the most common myths about experiential marketing. Time to set the record straight!

Myth #1: Experiential marketing is fun, but not really effective

We agree with the ‘fun’ part, but not the idea that experiential marketing doesn’t actually work!

According to EventTrack, the world’s largest annual research report on experiential marketing, 74% of consumers say that engaging with experiential marketing makes them more likely to buy the promoted product. EventTrack also says that 70% of consumers who make a purchase after participating in experiential marketing events become regular customers of that brand.

Myth #2: I’ll have instant success with experiential marketing

One reason many people might believe myth #1 is that they haven’t seen instant results from an experiential marketing campaign. To those people, we say: patience is a virtue.

Experiential marketing is about the long game – building brand awareness and creating experiences that stick in people’s memories, which has potential to lead to a steady stream of new customers over time.

Myth #3: Experiential marketing is a passing fad

Marketing in general does cycle through fads and trends at a pretty fast rate. But experiential marketing is here to stay. Tired of having traditional marketing forced upon them, people are jumping at the chance to engage in their own brand experiences – and it’s not likely they’ll be turning back anytime soon.

Plus, just think about it. As technology advances (which it does every day), more opportunities arise for businesses to engage with consumers through all kinds of experiences. It can only get better from here.
